Free Activities & Inclusions

Kiwis are a generous bunch and lots of museums and attractions are free of charge, as well as access to all National Parks. We'll take you to heaps of these and we also include selected paid activities which we feel offer the very best experiences in New Zealand.

The below activities are part of our biggest tour - The Total Aotearoa. Shorter tours may not include all the activities listed.

Rotorua Mountain Bike Park

If you've hired a bike from us, then you can enjoy one of the oldest mountain bike networks in the country, with master crafted trails, unbeatable riding surfaces, well draining volcanic soils, varying topography and fantastic scenery. With around 130 km of continually evolving trails, there is something to cater for all levels of rider at the Rotorua Mountain Bike Park.

Huka Falls

The most visited natural attraction in New Zealand! This stunning display of nature happens as the Waikato river narrows to a small 20 metre wide gorge. Every second up to 220,000 litres rush through the gorge, then barrel out to create a beautiful blue/green pool.

Tongariro National Park

Tongariro is our oldest National Park and offers New Zealand’s best one day hike! Aside from the hike, we travel through Tongariro National Park as we make our journey towards the lower North Island. You can expect to see baron landscapes with endless tussock slopes and on a fine day you’ll be blown away by the daunting and breathtaking volcanic peaks of Mt Ruapehu, Mt Tongariro and Mt Ngauruhoe (Mt Doom!).

Tekapo Church of Good Sheperd

Probably the most photographed church in the country! Set on the picturesque shores of Lake Tekapo this was the first church built in the MacKenzie Basin back in 1935. The church is surrounded by stunning scenery and if you take a look through the altar window, you'll see Lake Tekapo is perfectly framed - a stunning sight not to be missed!

Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park

Mt Cook/Aoraki is New Zealand’s highest mountain. Aoraki, the Maori name for the mountain, means cloud piercer as the top of the mountain is nearly always hidden in cloud. With barely any flat surfaces in the park and one third of it covered all year round in snow, you’ll be guaranteed to take some epic photos!

Hooker Valley Walk - Tasman Glacier

Hooker Valley holds a special place in our hearts. It's a great half day hike which takes you through incredible alpine vistas, over swing bridges, across well-established board walks and finishes at the base of the Tasman Glacier which offers some of the most breathtaking views you'll see on your trip!

Moeraki Boulders

One of the most fascinating and popular attractions in the South Island, these spherical ‘stones’ are actually concretions that have been exposed through shoreline erosion from coastal cliffs that back the beach. Jump on a rock and practice your yoga for a great Moeraki photo op!

Fiordland National Park

Our largest National Park is all about insane scenery and diverse nature, in fact, it's often regarded as one of the most beautiful places to explore in the whole country. It isn’t uncommon for it to rain here but without the high rainfall the fiord and lush rainforest wouldn’t be as magnificent! We highly recommend taking a cruise along the Milford Sound for some truly jaw-dropping sights.

Mt Aspiring National Park

Expect to see stunning mountainous scenery, remote wilderness and beautiful river valleys in Mount Aspiring National Park. There are some great walks and cycle trails that lead to spectacular viewpoints and remote alpine locations. Rich in biodiversity, this National Park is home to unique flora and fauna, including rare species of birds, such as the alpine parrot kea and the yellow-eyed penguin, making it a vital area for conservation efforts.

Lake Matheson - The Mirror Lake

This walk in Fox Glacier is easy but incredibly scenic. Famous for its excellent mirror-like reflecting properties, on a good day you’ll get mirror views of Aoraki/Mount Cook and Mount Tasman in this glacial lake while making your way through an ancient forest.

Punakaiki Pancake Rocks & Blowholes

The iconic Pancake Rocks and Blowholes were created 30 million years ago from tiny fragments of dead marine life and plants that settled on the seabed about 2 kilometers below the surface. The Blowholes are most impressive during high tide, when you can witness the full power of nature in action.

Abel Tasman National Park

Stunning forest, golden sand beaches and crystal clear invitingly warm water that stretch as far as the eye can see. This may be New Zealand’s smallest National Park but with so much to see and do there is no wonder it’s also the busiest!
