NZ Top Highlights

For almost 30 years we have been working on our touring route. We're always asking for feedback and exploring new things, so we regularly change our routes top ensure we are offering the best experience there is!

Auckland

Voted the world’s most liveable city in 2021, Auckland is the perfect place to start or finish one of our tours. There is so much to explore, from art precincts and amazing eateries to museums, theatres and great shopping, as well as Auckland's Viaduct Harbour and the fantastic Mission Bay beach. There are also over 50 volcanoes in the Auckland area, including the iconic Rangitoto, a dormant volcano which is one of Auckland's most striking features and can be easily reached by ferry from the mainland for a hike!

Hot Water Beach & the Coromandel Peninsula

The Coromandel exhibits geothermal features that create enough volcanic activity to literally dig a hole in the sand and make your own jacuzzi at low tide! At night, enjoy the millions of stars with your fellow Flying Kiwi travellers or simply enjoying the therapeutic feel of a natural hot spring that you have dug out yourself - and even better, it’s free!

Rotorua

Rotorua offers something to suit everyone! For the adventure seekers there's whitewater rafting, ziplining and zorbing, or if you'd prefer to relax there's the amazing polynesian spa geothermal hot pools. They city boasts a world class mountain bike park that is free for all users and has dozens of excellent trails to suit any level from beginners to ‘hard-outs’. Rotorua is also known as the best place to immerse yourself in Maori culture, you'll be able to taste a delicious ground-cooked hangi, learn the incredible haka and experience performances that will provide a profound insight into Aotearoa/New Zealand's rich history.

Kaikoura

Kaikoura is one of the most beautiful spots on the South Island's East Coast. Famous for its incredible coastal views and abundant marine life, including dolphins, seals, and the majestic sperm whales that can be spotted year-round, Kaikoura offers visitors unforgettable wildlife tours, such as whale watching and swimming with dolphins. Due to its coastal location, Kaikoura is also a great place to enjoy delicious seafood and fresh fush'n'chups!

Lake Tekapo & The Mackenzie Country

The drive to Lake Tekapo through the Mackenzie Country is a highlight in itself! Watch as lush green rolling hills become barren dry land with the backdrop of the towering Southern Alps. Drive past the turquoise Lake Pukaki, a glacial lake fed by meltwater from the surrounding mountains and visit the Church of the Good Shepherd, one of New Zealand's most charming landmarks.

Te Anau

The “gateway of Fiordland”, Te Anau is a lively town in the edge of the lake which shares the same name. A small town (it has only around 2,000 inhabitants), but sees a lot of visitors due to its proximity to 3 of New Zealand's 9 Great Walks which places it on the map as The Walking Capital of the World! Te Anau is a great place to relax after your visit to Fiordland, visit the stunning glowworm caves, or try a famous - and delicious - South Island cheese roll!

Queenstown

The Adventure Capital of New Zealand, this beautiful resort town concentrates most of the scariest and craziest activities that can be done in the country. Located beside the biggest lake in Aotearoa, Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown also has heaps of options that don't involve adrenaline such as hiking, enjoying views from the skyline gondola, enjoying delicious food at one of the many eateries, sipping a refreshing drink lakeside or playing frisbee golf in the park!

Punakaiki

Situated on the West Coast of New Zealand, Punakaiki is one of our favourite spots! The entire region has a remote and rugged feel about it that is reminiscent of the good ole days, you can almost imagine a horse and cart travelling past you! Best known for the Pancake Rocks and Blowholes this spectacular natural wonder is best viewed on high tide where you get the brunt of the Tasman sea pounding against the rocks.

Abel Tasman

New Zealand’s smallest and only coastal national park is also one of the most beautiful national parks in the world (no really, it is!). The Abel Tasman track is one of New Zealand’s Great Walks which takes you through the native forest, alongside hidden bays and coastlines, over golden sand beaches and in and out of the many canyons. There's a great water taxi operation service that can take you in and out of the park, so you can walk one way and then water taxi back to our camp to enjoy some relaxation time on the beach!
