Environmental award for Flying Kiwi

New Zealand's most recognised tourist body, Qualmark, implemented the Enviro Awards last year and have since become the world's first, fully integrated environmental and quality accreditation programme for tourism.

As part of Flying Kiwi's ongoing commitment to responsible tourism the team have been working hard on a variety of initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the trips and processes around them.

This outstanding work was recently recognised by Qualmark with the award of a silver environmental tourism award. Flying Kiwi is the first of the "backpacker tour buses" to receive such an award and it is another great recognition of their status as the country's leading adventure tour company.

Go wild in the Pacific Islands

The Pacific Islands are a popular stop off for many heading to or from New Zealand. They provide the chance to enjoy a bounty of adventure, culture and cuisine in a little piece of paradise.

Samoa, now one of the most talked about pacific destinations because of its stunning natural beauty and wonderful hospitality is the perfect place to combine relaxation with adventure. There are a range of inspiring cultural and adventure activities to enjoy including breath-taking hikes, bike rides, fire dancing, wonderful craft such as Tapa cloth and traditional weaving or take a dip in the clear turquoise waters.

After a days adventure try some of the gorgeous local cuisine including smoked octopus, crayfish, fresh deep sea fish on the BBQ combined with colourful salads washed down with a perfectly chilled local beer.

The following links are sites of interest when planning a trip to Samoa or other pacific islands:
