Flying Kiwi listed as "Best Adventure Travel Company on Earth"

National Geographic recently listed Flying Kiwi in its prestigious list of the Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth. The company was one of a very select few to make it to the final listings. The recognition followed an extremely rigorous assessment of the companies sustainability, client satisfaction, quality of service and spirit of adventure and data collection from a number of past clients.

Flying Kiwi was the top rated New Zealand and Oceania budget operator for client satisfaction in the following categories:

- hiking/trekking

- biking/cycling

- multi sport

- cultural encounters

Flying Kiwi was also listed in the top 5 internationally for client satisfaction in the above categories.

Its an excellent achievement and reflects that for budget adventure travel in New Zealand we are very, very good (have to let our modesty slip occasionally. :)

Discover one of the natural wonders of the World - Milford Sound

A true highlight of many Flying kiwi trips has to be our time at the stunning Milford Sound. This amazing natural phenomenon is currently being considered as one of the official 7 new wonders of the World (check out the latest list and cast your votes here).

Wet or fine Milford is incredibly grand. Mitre Peak magnetises photographers, and the fiord's sheer cliffs excite both admiration and apprehension. Milford is by far the best known of all of the fiords and the only one that can be accessed by road. It is approximately 16km from the head of they fiord to the open sea, which means visitors can comfortably travel the length of the fiord to the open ocean.

The road to Milford Sound, which traverses Fiordland National Park below massive peaks and bluffs, is considered one of the finest alpine drives in the world. Arriving at Milford, visitors are confronted by the most famous of New Zealand icons - the majestic Mitre Peak. Visitors to this vast, remote area, practically untouched by humans, are often overwhelmed by the incredible solitude and serenity of Fiordland.

The best part of a Flying Kiwi trip there is the option to enjoy this fantastic journey in by bike - and yes its nearly all downhill. Once there we have some excellent hike options and the boat cruise is a real hit with all our travellers.
