Easy, Relaxed and Flexible Adventure Tours

The buses do a continuous loop of New Zealand , which means that you can join and finish at any point on the route. The tours listed on this site have the most common departure city as the lineonbeachsmall starting point.

You can choose to see the whole country with us (27/28 days on the Ultimate Explorer) or choose from one of our shorter trips. There will be people leaving and joining the trip when we go through the main cities so you get a great flow of new and old "Flying Kiwi-ers" on the trip. The great part is that unlike a hop on, hop off trip there will always be some people you know - not a total new group every day.

If you have a longer period of time in New Zealand you can leave the trip, spend the time exploring a region more thoroughly then jump back on the bus. For more information and ideas on extended breaks click here. There is no limit on the number of stopovers you can do so you could spread your travels over a year or two if you want!

Ages - its all about the people

Unlike other tour companies we don’t have any age restrictions so you will often find people from 16 - 60 years enjoying the Flying Kiwi way. From experience we have found that it does not suit children less than 10 years of age and our eating (small).jpg

average age is around mid 20s.

Healthy and tasty food

Most meals are included (check the itinerary). The guides do all the shopping and we help arrange cook groups for meal preparation, cleaning up etc. On average you would help with the cooking around every four days. The cook groups are a great way to relax and make new friends whilst chopping the onions and tasting the wine!! We are always cooking outside and usually with stunning backdrops - the best in al fresco dining.

We cater for most diets eg vegetarian, vegan, non dairy etc. Let us know at the time of booking if you have special dietary requirements. Our trailers contain the kitchen and all the equipment we need to prepare tasty and healthy meals. See the food page for more details.

Accommodation in amazing locations

A shared tent is included in the price and we will be staying in a fantastic combination of commercial and stunning remote sites. There are single and share tent options + the chance to upgrade to cabins if you fancy some rural luxury. The tents are easy to put up, include a mattress and our guides are always around to give a hand. Cycling

Cycling is totally optional and around half the people on a trip will hire bikes. There are rides of all lengths to suit all fitness levels and the guides will give you a thorough brief and all the equipment you need to ensure safe and enjoyable cycle options. See the cycling page for more detail.

Optional Activities
New Zealand is famous for being the world’s adventure capital. Everyday you will get the opportunity to try fantastic activities from dolphin swimming to glacier hiking - unlike other buses we do not pay the guides any commission so there's never any pressure to participate and always free alternatives. Extending Trips

Having so much fun that you decide to extend your trip? Subject to availability you can add on another trip and we will give you a 10% discount off the tour fee of the extra trip. The longer the tour the lower the average daily cost.
