1 DAY SURF SCHOOL

Learn to surf with Surfing New Zealand Endorsed Coaches. Our instructors are in the water with you at all times to make you feel comfortable and reach that ultimate goal of standing and catching your first wave!

The 1-Day Surf School is designed for beginners who are new to the sport of surfing. It is very important that you understand the dangers at surf beaches. You will learn the fundamentals of surfing, surf safety and surfing rules. Learn about rips, holes and undertows, how to identify them, escape them and use them to your advantage. You will also learn the difference between offshore and onshore winds, afternoon sea breezes, tides, and surfing rules. north_island_surfing_new_zealand.jpg

Our surf school is mobile giving you access to the best learning conditions. Lessons are held on the west or east coast, which ever has the best learning conditions on the day. The main destination is Piha because of the consistency of waves on the west coast.

We surf all year round with our main surf season running from approximately mid Oct through to May.

- Classes operate 7 days a week, pick up and drop off from central city Auckland.

- Pick up times, one departure per day depending on the tides (7:30am, 10am or 12:30pm).

- The day is around 7hrs long if we hit the west coast and 9hrs if we hit the east.

- Safety ratio 7 - 1 instructor.

- Girls only days are normally run on the last weekend of every month form Oct to May.

- Bring towel, swimming togs, suitable clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses. BYO lunch or we can make a lunch stop.

5 Day Learn to Surf Surfari

(Departs every Monday and returns Friday from October to May)

The 5 Day Tour is a surf surfari for beginners to advanced alike. Our custom tailored surf wagon gets you on the beach to remote locations where you can learn to surf in uncrowded conditions. Our tour takes us to the sub-tropical waters and climate of the winterless North, which offers a variety of waves to suit all abilities.

Learning to surf is all about
1) Having access to the right equipment, which we provide
2) Finding the waves that best suit your ability
3) Being given the right instruction

You will find this trip is not just your average tour for many it is a life changing experience. You will live the life of a surfer "Only a surfer knows the feeling" Quoted by Billabong.

Most of our customers are beginners but many experienced surfers take our trips because we find the best waves to suit all abilities. For the new surfer having good surfers on board is a bonus, by hangin with them it will greatly improve your surfing. The drawback is your vocabulary will change and words like pits, gnarly, point break, going off! It is all part of the experience so not to worry. Our tour heads north for the simple reasons of the sub tropical water and climate, the remote and unspoiled beaches, and the consistency of the surf due to the proximity of the 3 coasts (North, East and West).

Why would you come with us?

  • We have our own exclusive lodge (Ahipara Surf Lodge) which is located right on the beach in Ahipara. In front of the lodge is a very good consistent beach break, which offers great learning and longboarding waves.
  • We have been running these trips for 7 years, you won't find better!
  • Our (International Surf Association) surf coaches have extensive local knowledge which allows them to find quality waves and give you a surfing adventure that you will never forget.
  • We take small groups (10:1 Ratio) to ensure you get the attention you need.
  • You will quickly meet new friends and enjoy Northland's amazing scenery through the eyes of a surfer.surfing_north_island_new_zealand.jpg

Customer feedback:

"I'd like to give a big thanks to NZ Surf n Snow Tours for their fantastic efforts on Saturday. A very relaxed but very professional service ensured the thorough enjoyment of everyone. All the students managed to catch a few waves and most in the group are already talking about coming back again for more lessons. Thanks" Mark
